The Heart of It

2025, COLLAGE, ACRYLIC ON PANEL, 12 X 9”

This piece grew out of my obsession with printing — and with the freedom that comes when you stop trying to make things perfect. I began making my own collage papers out of frustration with what was available, and quickly realized that the “mistakes” were actually doorways. Every unexpected smudge, bleed, and misalignment became a new horizon.

Printing has a way of surprising you. It produces shapes and textures that no hand could plan, and in that unpredictability I felt something open. The layered reds, greens, and golds here echo both the wildness of the park and the inner landscape of discovery — roses, leaves, paths, and fragments all colliding into something alive.

I don’t believe in original shapes anymore. Nature has already seen everything. What I am doing here is paying attention — recording what moves through me when I let go and let the process lead.
