FLOWERS FOR THE TABLE
2025, MONOPRINT, ACRYLIC, PENCIL ON ARCHIVAL PAPER, IMAGE 20.25 X 16” ON 30 X 22” PAPER, UNFRAMED
This monoprint was inspired by my weekly summer ritual of visiting the local farmers market — walking past crates of just-picked vegetables, still dusted with soil, and armfuls of zinnias in every color. There is something deeply hopeful about buying directly from the hands that grow our food and flowers.
Using stencils cut from zinnia sketches, I layered these floral forms into the surface, allowing them to drift and overlap. The blue shapes float against a field of warm gold, echoing both sky and sun, abundance and earth.
Even though my cats have a habit of knocking over and nibbling at the flowers, I still bring them home every week — small offerings of beauty and gratitude for the labor that went into growing them. This piece holds that simple, stubborn devotion to everyday joy.
